MISASSEMBLED is wearable art inspired by the structures found throughout the natural and constructed worlds. Each piece brings geometric order into personal expression through planes, angles, and sculptural forms.

Created by artist Swain McCaughrin, MISASSEMBLED began in New York City in 2008 with a series of large-scale geometric installations for underground warehouse parties. Immersed in a fluorescent world of blacklight and music, she began folding paper and vinyl into these site-specific works. Drawing from her background in traditional sculpture and self-taught sewing skills, these installations gradually evolved into experimental wearable forms—mixed-media body sculptures, paper headpieces, and wood jewelry.

In 2018, Swain expanded her practice through new materials and fabrication methods, developing jewelry in silver, brass, steel, and 3D printed nylon that ranges from small-scale designs to oversized pieces. This body of work brings the original exploration of structure into a more personal scale, connecting form with the transformative potential of what we wear.
