The Fractal collection embodies the emergence of order and patterns from complex systems through the arctic lens of winter. Pyramid variations are frozen in time by symmetry and sequence to form modular crystal systems that mirror ice forms and fractal frost from another dimension.

The designs in this series begin as paper sculptures. Each pyramid is then digitized and 3d printed in nylon through Selective Laser Sintering. Swain constructs the sculptures, by smoothing and painting the surface with a non-toxic metallic paint, attaching each unit with steel hardware to locally sourced materials, and finishing the surfaces with a protective acrylic varnish.
